Working on a new scene: Japanese Roombox. Day 1

It's almost 2 years since I bought a roombox, hoping to do a Japanese scene on it.  I decided it was a perfect moment to start, taking advantage of my Easter holidays.  So yesterday I started the work, and this is what I accomplished on day 1.

Firstly, I took out all the components, and did a dry fit to ensure correct placement of the parts:

I was pleasantly surprised to see it had fitted corners, like puzzles pieces

They all fit perfectly!

 Since I know better now, instead of gluing together the walls and floor, I decided to wallpaper and put the floor before any other work.  So I spread out all the walls as to not make mistakes, and started by printing a beautiful tatami floor, work of the talented Ana Circea:

Done!  Then trimmed to size

First piece done, 3 to go!  Next one, the left wall.  For this, I covered the entire wall with white cardboard, and then placed a sliding door in the center - also from Ana's shop:

I still needed to add some beams for decoration, but the natural light was getting low, so I stopped the work right here.

Scene: Apothecary

Today I finished another scene.  This one I wanted to do for a long time, but I was always doubtful about where I would put it.  So I opted to make a similar one as I did for the haberdashery shop: a self-contained scene that could very well be put in the wall.  It would not be too big, but cute enough to display pharmacy stuff, which I adore.

I am very happy how it turned out:

This time I even put a sign on the door!

It took a while to find everything I wanted to include.  Some stuff was bought on purpose, some other I had lying about, and some I designed myself.  Most of the display boxes come from Zena's Miniatures.

Very happy to finally have a little apothecary!

Chandelier lamps for Kassandra's house

Kassandra called today, very excited for me to show up and help her hang some new furnishings in her house.  When I arrived, I saw her getting ready to put into their final place two beautiful chandelier lamps.

"Hello, dear", she said.  "I am happy you could come.  My two lamps finally showed up!  I had been waiting for them since last September."

"Wow.  September?  How is that possible?"

"Apparently, the people at the post office could not deliver them for "incorrect address".  See, how absurd!  The vendor had to shipped them again, and thankfully, this time they arrived without incident."

"They look really nice.  Let's get started!"

"Well, they look gorgeous, Kassandra."

"They do, don't they?  I thought originally to put both of them in the library, but what I am thinking now is adding some wall sconces to both rooms.  And maybe a light for the painting in the library?  I am still not sure about that, but we'll see..."

Free printable! Ballet calendar for 2022

Scene: Library in a book

Another scene I have just finished.  This one is a gift for my mom: a library inside a book box.

I bought this ages ago at Michael's.  I never really did anything with it

The papers used as covers come from Digital Curio

I chose a book still life painting because my mom has a very similar one at her house

I love how well it turned out!

I really hope she likes it!
