Christmas crafting

Merry Christmas to all!

Husband and I had a couple of days off, so we crafted something new together.  He wants to start playing role-playing games again, and we got the new edition of Blade Runner, Alien, and Dune.  The thing is, we got a very cool screen for the Blade Runner game - it contains statistics and numbers for the game runner. So he wanted to have a similar one for the Alien game.  The Alien RPG game is mostly out of print, so we made our own.

We took the Blade Runner screen as sample, and composed it following the same pattern.  This is the final result, and I think it looks really good:

It is a triptic; this is the outside, visible to players

And this is the inside, visible to the Game Mother

As first step, we took scrapbook cardboard (2 mm wide) and cut it to the size of the info sheets, allowing for some room to mount them together.  Then, we composed the triptic with construction strips, allowing for some movement, so we would be able to fold it closed:

Then, we covered the edges with more construction strips to hide the color of the cardboard and to give it a more professional finish.  Then, we added stripes on the inside edges to frame the statistics sheets:

Looking good!

It closes perfectly!

Then, we printed and added the outside decorations, and the statistics sheets to the inside:

We absolutely love how it came out!  Now on to start playing...

New furnishings for the living room

I found Kassandra today very busy, hanging up some pictures in her newly finished living room.

"What are you up to today?"

"Good morning, dear.  As you can see, I am dressing up my walls.  Since we are so fond of cinema, I have chosen to decorate with some movie posters."

"What have you got for display?"

"Well, in the first place, some classics that we adore.  Dracula, as it could not be any other way.  I absolutely love Coppola's movie!  It may not be completely faithful to the book, but I so enjoy the cinematography, the costumes, and the absinthe scene... Oh, that is one of the best I have seen in any film!  And Blade Runner, another of out favorite classics.  But of course, something more modern:  The Justice League.  The actor that plays Superman is one of my favorites.  He looks so handsome in that picture, don't you think?"

"Why, yes, of course.  I assume you have seen "The Witcher" as well?"

"But of course!  I cannot wait for December to start the second season!"

"And this other painting over here?"

"That is the lovely Nadja, from "What we do in the Shadows".  She is a riot; if she was real I am sure we would be great friends.  That picture is featured in the opening credits of the show."

"That is so fun!  This place looks really neat to have a movie marathon afternoon."

 "Why, thank you, dear!"
