Free printable! Ouija boxes and boards, volume 2

I was taking a look at some pics that I had archived, and realized that the printie that I released long ago with Ouija boards and boxes were of William Fuld, and none of them had the famous Parker Brothers pics, so I thought it was time to remedy that.  And because I am on holidays, and in a good mood :)

So here is the another version of Ouija boxes (with the same boards and planchettes) for some of you that may have had the real life ones.  

I hope you enjoy them, even though it is still a long way to Halloween.

Free printable! Ouija boards and boxes

Given that I have a wonderful coffin bookcase, I was anxious to feel it up with Halloween goodies, and the best goodies are the ones you can make at home.

So I made some Google searches and found some really cool pictures of Ouija boards and boxes.  I spent yesterday afternoon cleaning them up and turning them into miniatures, so Kassandra has something to entertain her guests.

Here is a printie for you to make 2 set of different boxes, boards, instructions and planchettes.  Feel free to share them, give them as gifts and pass the file onto anyone (links back are nice too), but please, do not sell your creations or the file.

The Ouija boards I already had, from the time my shop was open.  The black box I recreated with the help of a picture of a vintage Ouija box from the 30s-40s.  I could not find a date for the blue and orange box, though.  I am not very happy with the planchettes; I included them so your set would not be incomplete, but I actually plan to make a planchette out of polymer clay.  Maybe you can do too, or you can use a jewelry finding instead (maybe one in a heart shape?).

This is what I finally did to make a planchette:

 

I used a bit of brown polymer clay, and cut it with these two cutters: a big one with a tear shape to make the body of the planchette, and a smaller round one to make the hole for the message.  I baked it like that for 15 minutes and removed the planchette once it cooled.  The round bit stayed behind, so no need to do anything else.  I hope this helps!

Free printable! Halloween coloring books

One day closer to Halloween!

Who doesn't love it? Although this year is going to be not so much fun, with the pandemic and all.  Trick or treating has been suspended on many places, and we will not be able to celebrate with parties, movie watching with friends or your favorite activity, if it involves many people.

Lucky our dollhouses do not have such problems!  Kassandra has started already to plan a party, and she asked for help with the decorating.  Well, my first suggestion was to put up one of those fake coffins.  She was not pleased at first, with all the implications that could have, but when she saw the piece in question she changed her mind:

This phenomenal piece comes from Ever After Miniatures, a place I always recommend for fabulous books and other paper goodies.  The fun thing about this piece is you can use it with or without the shelves.  Kassandra was considering another one to put Mr. Fortunato inside, so he can enjoy the party too.

We started unpacking games and other knick-knacks to decorate, and Kassandra asked if by any chance did I have Halloween coloring books.  "I do not", I said, "but I'll be happy to make some for you".

Since I did not know she asked for herself or the children of the house, I made two, one for kids and one for adults.  I made them using images found on Google:

Special FX contact lenses!

My husband is gifting me cosmetic contact lenses for Valentine's day, and  I went to order them today.  It's been years since I wanted to have special effect contact lenses!  

The best part is, they are not expensive, and I will be able to buy them regularly.  And even better, I won't have to wait long for them.  The guy in the shop said he would contact me probably next Wednesday!

I chose Colourvue Crazy Lens, since they make them graduated, and I won't have trouble seeing while wearing them.  This is the model I chose:

I can't wait to try them on!

New prop replica necklace

My husband and I watched on All Hallows Eve the movie "The hunger", which none of us had heard about until I saw a mention of it on Jillian Venters' tumblr.  It is a movie about vampires, but it certainly is different than anything I have seen before...

Well, anyway, this post is not about that.  During the movie, Miriam and John wear some necklaces with an ankh, which they use to attack their victims:

I fell in love with them the moment I saw them.  I have been using ankhs since I was 16 (that's more than 20 years, folks!), and have never seen a so clever contraption as these.  

Right after finishing the movie I ran to the Internetz to search for a replica.  I did not find one just like those in the movie, unfortunately.  But I found a very similar one from Alchemy Gothic:

I ordered it and it arrived today!  I love it!  I have changed the chain, since it was only 20 inches and it was way too short for a pendant of this size (the ankh measures 3 inches).  Now it hangs just between my breasts.  The fact that I ordered it on October 31 makes it even more special.

There are plenty of places where you can buy your own ankh.  It is officially called Ankh of the Dead; I got mine from Dreams of Caedryn on Etsy.

And if you still have not watched the movie, go and watch it!  Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie are both gorgeous on it!

Nail design of the week: Perfect for Halloween!!

Finally Halloween it's here, and I can't wait to dress up and do my makeup!  My nails were done on Monday, and they will stay on until at least the weekend.  I saw this picture on Tumblr some years ago and fell in love with it:

It was strikingly beautiful and I have wanted to recreate this look for a long time.  I know there are many ways to do a blood manicure, but this is my favorite: as if you have dipped your nails on someone's blood.  I looked up some videos in YouTube for guidance, and followed this one to do my nails:

I love that they do not have to be exactly identical to be great, and the fact that they are all different is even more fun.  Some people that saw them thought they had been professionally done, and they all recognized the dripping blood, so I guess they are a sucess!

Something very pretty I have just purchased

It has been ages since I treated myself to a little something from Etsy - actually, this is the first time since we left the US in February. And I am delighted, and can not wait until my parcel arrives!

Let me explain. Since Halloween is almost here, I have been considering buying the Canadian series "The little vampire", starring Joel Dacks, Christopher Stanton and the adorable Marsha Moreau. It was released in 1985 (I was 9!), and it became one of my favorites. All these years I have been yearning for it to be released, and now it is available, although only through Amazon Germany. Well, they had some props in the series that as a child I always wanted to possess:

- a jar of rams (spelling?) - it was a magical black dust that sprinkled over a cloak would make you fly. They kept it on a glass jar with a little bat on the lid - still working on the design of this one...
- a vampire cloak, of course - I made one out of tulle from an old petticoat my mother had. Now I have two velvet cloaks adult size ;)
- a moss rock - they were moss covered rocks that they kept as crypt decorations... And now I have (or I will soon) five!!

I found them on Etsy, and the amazing seller teresab123 was so helpful answering my questions and putting up a listing specially for me. Go check her shop, it is full of beautifully made terrariums, plants, and moss, moss everywhere!! I am sure you'll find something you'll love.

It seems my vampire childhood obsession is almost complete. Now I only have to buy the series and get me a glass of rams. Maybe Lumpi will pay me a visit...

Trying some new objects...

Of course, I have watched the most recent movie of Harry Potter. Playing around in my head with new ideas for miniatures based on the popular books, I came up with this cabinet to sell on my shop:

Although the potion and the spirits bottles I have made before, I wanted to try something new, and made this cabinet thinking not on a laboratory, but more on a kitchen. The crate that holds the pumpkins I made it from scratch - it's my first one, and I am quite proud, as well as with the unicorn horns. The apples and the mushrooms were not difficult (not the first time) but I put the mushrooms over a page of an old issue of "The Daily Prophet" that is printed on a replica of parchment paper.

The pumpkins are Putka pods, that are seeds that are shaped like mini pumpkins.

So much fun to make!
