A new project in the making

We were in Paris a couple of weeks ago for our holiday vacation.  We had a great time, and I came home with my mind rested, but ready to start some new miniature projects.

First, a Ladureé cart.

I am a big, big fan of the Ladureé macarons, and my husband gifted me a beautiful 12-piece box - I chose it in blue, because I already had one in green at home.  Today I ate the last piece (bo!), but I am ready to have my own lovely cart in miniature full of tiny macarons!

I had purchased an antique cart, and I had the idea of turning it into one of those candy carts that you used to see at parks selling candy to kids many years ago.  But somehow, the starting of the project never took place, so it sit in my shelf for quite some time.  When I came back from Paris, it was the moment the project started, at least in my head.

I had already glued some of the pieces (a bad movement on my part), but now the first thing was to paint everything in the brand colors of Ladureé - minty green and gold.  So I purchased an Americana bottle of paint (shade Pistachio Mint), and the work began:

Ready to start!

Second coat, and more pieces painted

There is still a long way to go, but I have been researching pics of Ladureé carts in several locations, to look for inspiration, and yesterday I ordered some objects from one of my suppliers.  I cannot wait for them to arrive.

In the meantime, I will finished the painting and the construction of the cart.  This is a picture of the cart I saw to inspire this:

And the second project, which is still far in the horizon but I will definitely make, is a vintage French café.  I already bought a pub bar and stools, just to keep them in storage.  But the cart will be finished first, no doubt!

A new acquisition

Today it was Kassandra the one that came looking for me.

"You are going to love this!", she said.
"What is it?"
"I have purchased a new house!  Well, it is not really new, but you'll see..."

And indeed she has.  She was all excited about showing it to me, because...

"After all, you are going to remodel it for me."
"I am very glad to see that you trust my knowledge in these matters".
"Oh, don't worry, I have very clear ideas about what I want for it.  Take a look!"

"Isn't it lovely?  I am thinking about adding an attic.  The ceilings in the first floor are too high.  And I could use some extra rooms..."
"What are you thinking in terms of decoration?"
"In the ground floor, a drawing room and a cellar.  And of course, a library on the first floor.  And I think I need a bedroom too, just in case..."
"So what do you need the attic for?"
"I want a ballet studio.  I need to rehearse.  And did you see it has a conservatory, and a deck?"

"Very nice".
"I cannot wait to start the renovations!"

Fantasy apart, I came across this house by chance, and I bought it locally.  I used some gift money my mother-in-law gave me for my birthday, and I could not be more happy.  I have so many plans for it!

The new scene has been started!

A couple of days ago, I mentioned that I was going to start the process of making a museum scene / curator workshop / curiosities room.  Today the process started with putting the floor on the roombox.

I will be using a little greenhouse that a co-worker found for me some years ago.  It is lovely; it was going to be an organic product shop, but I think the new scene is more atune to Kassandra's taste.

The flooring came from Jessica Cloe Minis.  It is a lovely tile in black and white, which is a combination that I like very much.  I printed one A4 sheet, hoping it would cover everything.  Alas, it was a tiny bit short:

So I printed some extra and attached it to the end.  The joining point is invisible!

Now, it is ready to be cut to shape and installed:

I affixed it with some double-sided tape

It looks gorgeous!

I am very happy with how well it looks.  I have a couple of things already put in place.  Currently waiting on some furniture to start planing the design of the scene!
